Volunteer Information

Many families enjoy volunteering on our campus or participating in class field trips.  If you are interested, a Volunteer Application, including Code of Conduct Agreement, may be found in the office.  These must be completed each year.  If you have any questions, please feel welcome to contact Tauni Aikin, our Volunteer Coordinator, at [email protected].

There are four Categories of Volunteer Clearance:

  • Category A:  Visitors or one time volunteers who do not need screening. Examples include, attending an assembly, coming to the Jogathon, or being a mystery reader in a classroom. This DOES NOT require a volunteer application or TB clearance.

  • Category B:  Volunteers who work with students while in the same room as the teacher or other district personnel. Typically, this would be a classroom volunteer.  This requires a volunteer application and TB clearance in the form of a negative TB test or a TB Risk Assessment, completed by a medical professional, in which no risks are identified.  Category B volunteers are screened on the Megan's Law website.

  • Category C:  Volunteers who are alone with kids ON CAMPUS. Examples include, taking a small group of students to another room for an activity, or one on one tutoring in reading. This requires items in Category B plus a standard background check through our School Police Department.

  • Category D: Volunteers who will be alone with students OFF Campus.  This would include field trip chaperones who will be responsible for a small group of students away from district personnel for any reason. This requires all Category C items, and fingerprinting through the LiveScan process.  A volunteer is not required to be fingerprinted each year as long as they request an updated background check.
